Old railroad - Canyon

The gorge of the "Old Railway" lies between Willebadessen and Lichtenau's forests.

Directly at the entrance to the parking lot on the left, the narrow path leads to the new nature trail to the "Old Railway" NATURE construction site.

It takes you to the places where the tunnel was built 170 years ago.

Here, you can follow enchanted fairytale paths in search of relics of the work that was not completed at the time due to a lack of money.

The 200-metre-long and 20-metre-deep former tunnels that are still visible today are impressive.

The western cut is flooded and has developed into a biotope that is particularly worthy of protection.

Continue along the A1 past the large ponds of the Schönthal estate on forest paths back to the parking lot.
