The Externsteine in the Teutoburg Forest are a mythical place and an imposing natural monument

At Horn-Bad Meinberg in the eastern Teutoburg Forest, fifteen jagged rocks of chalky sandstone cliffs rise up abruptly.

For some they are a mythical place of power, for others simply a very remarkable natural monument.

The Externsteine, which are sometimes referred to as 'the Stonehenge of the Teutoburg Forest', are among the most famous natural and cultural monuments in Germany.

By bus
On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays during the summer season, the tourist line 792 departs from Detmold every hour. The bus stop is located approx. 350m from the rock formation at the Externsteine parking lot - near the information center. On weekdays you can take the 782 line from Detmold via Horn to Bad Meinberg. Bus stop: Horn or Externsteine.
