Otto Pankok made a name for himself as a charcoal artist, caricaturist and wood engraver. Above all, however, he made a lasting impression with his humanist and anti-fascist attitude, which made him one of the "degenerates" and therefore banned artists in the eyes of the Nazis.

Pankok continued to work in secret and also came to Gildehaus. Here he devoted himself above all to the landscape and the people.

The museum dedicates changing exhibitions primarily to Pankok's work, his principles and his artistic companions.
