A fish pond in Hagen was first mentioned in the Middle Ages, in 1341.
Today, the Kasselmann family runs what is probably the oldest trout farm still in operation in Lower Saxony and, as one of the few training and full-time farms in the fish farming profession, focuses on near-natural and gentle breeding. The ponds are wonderfully embedded in the beautiful trout valley with its cherry tree-covered slopes. The excellent restaurants in the valley naturally also have the fresh, delicious trout on their menus. The farm store has fixed daily opening hours. Guided tours are possible by arrangement.
