The first documented mention of the castle dates back to 1343.
The lords of Vincke were already the owners at that time. The buildings consist of a three-winged manor house (1698 - 1780 - 1908) with remains of the former moat on the east and south sides.
On the main road from Oldendorf to Buer there is a fountain with a ram's head spouting water. Behind it is a barn with an old plank door from an Osnabrück town house. The estate was the headquarters of Field Marshal Montgomery for several years after the Second World War.
