Stroll, linger, widen your gaze
and feel your hands, bark and leaves - when "forest bathing", you can safely leave your swimwear at home. Instead, you immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the forest.
Forest bathing is a health and tourism trend from Japan, known as "Shinrin Yoku", which means "taking a bath in the atmosphere of the forest". It is considered a scientifically proven stress management method and is said to act as a natural preventative measure: During a mindful "bath" in the greenery, stress hormones that are harmful to health can be reduced and your own immune system strengthened by inhaling essential tree oils.
Consciously (re)experiencing the forest helps to bring body and mind into balance. Guided walks with qualified instructors open up our senses, which are usually over-stimulated, and allow us to marvel in a way we haven't done since childhood.
Small mindfulness, awareness and breathing exercises intensify the health-promoting effect of forest bathing and help us to shift down a gear. Slowing down is the magic word.
Registration required by 5 p.m. on Friday at Bad Laer Touristik.
Participation fee €8, €6 with a guest card.
Meeting point: Hikers' parking lot, Auf dem Blomberg 2
