Stages:
Klingenbrunn Bahnhof - Althütte - Flanithütte - Linden - Klingenbrunn Bahnhof
Tour description:
We start our snowshoe tour in Klingenbrunn Bahnhof, where one can ideally take the train for travelling to the starting point of the tour. First, we follow the marking ‘Rüsselkäfer’ (Weevil) to Althütte. On a narrow path we walk through the forest, before we meet a street after a while. We follow the street for a short time until we already arrive in the small village of Althütte. From here, you have nice views to the summit of Rachel and the surrounding forests. We continue following the ‘Rüsselkäfer’ (Weevil) on snowy forest paths towards Flanitzhütte.
At another crossroads, we follow the marking ‘Trans Bayerwald’ straight and soon, we reach Flanitzhütte. This small village is part of the village of Spiegelau and is located directly at the Flanitz river which we cross on a small bridge. Afterwards we turn right, still following the marking ‘Trans Bayerwald’. Now, we walk uphill on easy and comfortable paths along the Flanitz river. Later, we walk through an underpassing of the railway and get to a crossroads.
Here, we keep right and follow the ‘Nationalpark-Radweg’ (National Park Cycle Path) which brings us back to Klingenbrunn Bahnhof. We reach a railway crossing, but instead of crossing the tracks we turn left into the forest.
Now, we follow the ‘Spitzmaus’ (Shrew) and walk through Flanitzebene. From time to time we can discover traces of beavers along the path. Finally, we reach the village Klingenbrunn Bahnhof where we started our tour.
