Did you know it?
The botanical site illustrates the most important types of inhabits in Bavarian Forest National Park. Behind the big tower of our tree top walk, you can see mixed mountain forest, which is rich of species but rare in this region. On the south and southwestern slopes between 650 and 1200 meters above sea level, it is much warmer than in the areas of higher altitude. The spruces, firs and beech trees grow here, as well as the sycamore maple, which can be found on rocky ground. In the few places, where the rocky ground contains more nutrients, rare tree species such as scots elm and yew can be found. A lush flora of herbaceous enhances biodiversity of this esthetic and interesting type of forest.
