Memorial Lake

The Reschbachklause serves as a habitat for rare animal and plant species.

In the 18th century, forestry started to ingress deeper into the Inner Bavarian Forest. Brooksides were attached and canals and dams were built. In 1860, the Reschbachklause was built at the foot of Siebensteinkopf at 1130 meters in altitude. It is 36 meters long and dams the Reschbach with a maximum depth of 5 meters. The length of this lake is 215 meters. In course of the ending of timber drift during the 1950s, the buildings lost their actual function. The national park preserves the Klausen as cultural landmarks, which are habitat to rare animals and plants by now.
