    The shelter of the Bayerischer Wald-Verein is located next to the summit of Großer Falkenstein.




    The first Falkenstein shelter was built in 1932 and had 30 beds at that time. Currently, a new and functional building is constructed, which will soon be able to offer 40 accommodations.  The old shelter is still in use until the new one is finished. It will be torn down, after the new one is been opened.
