Between Westfield Centro, the Gasometer, Pumpwerk Holten and the Rhine-Herne Canal, impressive industrial backdrops alternate with quiet paths and sweeping views. The route is ideal for anyone who wants to enjoy a relaxed bike ride and experience authentic Ruhr Valley moments – without any major inclines. A perfect outing for after work or at the weekend.

    This relaxed circular tour connects some of Oberhausen's most exciting attractions – from modern leisure facilities and impressive industrial backdrops to tranquil nature trails. The tour starts at the Neue Mitte with the first two highlights: first the Westfield Centro and then the Oberhausen Gasometer. A short detour to the Rhine-Herne Canal offers sweeping views of the water before continuing along the Emscher Way and the former HOAG railway line through peaceful, green surroundings.

    In the northern part of the tour is the Holten pumping station – a great vantage point and a sign of the Emscher's transformation in the middle of greenery. From here, the route leads through green expanses, quiet residential areas and finally back to Westfield Centro via OLGA Park with its striking landscape architecture.

    This easy circular tour starts at Westfield Centro and first takes you to the impressive Gasometer – Oberhausen's landmark, visible from afar. After a short section along the Rhine-Herne Canal, you will follow the nature-oriented Emscher Trail to the HOAG route, a former railway line that has now been converted into a comfortable cycle path.

    At the northernmost part of the route, you will reach the pumping station in Holten before the route takes you through quiet neighbourhoods and across the varied OLGA Park back to the Neue Mitte. 
    You can reach Oberhausen Central Station by train, from where you can easily take a bus or tram to the starting point of the route – the Neue Mitte Oberhausen. The bus stop of the same name is located directly at the start and end point of the route.
