The Hitzacker (Elbe) ferry is an indispensable link between the banks of the Elbe. It starts operating every year on April 1 and remains active until October 15, water levels, weather conditions and other factors permitting. The ferry transports people and their bicycles across the river, which both separates and connects the towns of Bitter and Hitzacker.
