The Breetzer Berge - Findlingsring hiking trail combines nature and history
This varied loop hike covers about 11.5 kilometers through the charming landscape of the Breetzer Mountains south of Bleckede. You’ll find quiet forest trails, rolling hills, historic sites, and impressive remnants of the Ice Age. The tour uniquely combines nature, regional history, and geology.
From the starting point, the trail first leads through fields and forests to the former execution site of Bleckede and on to the historic Jewish cemetery. It then continues through the wooded, hilly landscape of the Breetzer Mountains. A short, steep climb takes hikers up to Telegrafenberg, the highest point in the area. From here, a sweeping view opens up over the Elbe glacial valley all the way to the Mecklenburg countryside.
A special highlight of the tour is the boulder circle in Breetze. Around 100 boulders from Scandinavia, which were transported into the region by massive glaciers during the Ice Ages, are arranged here in a circle. Information panels explain the origin, age, and unique features of the rocks. The oldest stones are over 1.75 billion years old and tell the fascinating story of how the Elbe floodplain was formed.
The hike is particularly suitable for nature lovers, families, and visitors interested in history. Changing landscapes, peaceful forest sections, and interesting sights make the loop trail one of the most beautiful hiking experiences around Bleckede.
