The Elbe Cycle Path leads you over 1,270 km from the Czech Republic through seven German federal states to the North Sea.
Between Hitzacker and Bleckede, the Elbe cycle path leads through the Elbe floodplain. Here you will be enticed by burial mounds, historic town centers and unmistakable nature. A highlight is the observation tower on the Kniepenberg, from where you can enjoy a wide view of the Elbe valley floodplain.
In Neu Darchau and Bleckede, you can take the ferry to the other side of the Elbe.
A section of the cycle path also runs here in Amt Neuhaus. In Hohnstorf, it is worth taking a detour over the Elbe bridge to Lauenburg you reach the district of Harburg. Here you cycle directly on or next to the Elbe dyke via Tespe and Marschacht through the Elbmarsch to Rönne. The largest fish ladder in Europe invites you to explore the Elbe weir.
The Stover Elbe beach is known far beyond the borders of the Winsener Elbmarsch - an ideal place for a break on the Elbe. Via Elbstorf and Drage you continue along the Elbuferstraße to Laßrönne, where a pumping station is located directly on the border between the Ilmenau Canal and the marsh. After crossing the barrier, you cycle to the marshland village of Hoopte.
From Hoopte harbour, you now take the ferry to the northern bank of the Elbe. Once on the northern bank of the Elbe, you cycle through the Vier- und Marschlande region towards the metropolis of Hamburg.
