Grosser Mythen

The Big Mythen has an alpine character, yet the mountain can be easily climbed. The reward of the hike is a sensational panoramic view with tens of hundreds of mountain peaks.

The Big Mythen towers majestically over the town of Schwyz. The Rotenflue cable car takes you from Rickenbach/Schwyz to the starting point: the Rotenflue. The stretch up to Holzegg at the foot of the Big Mythen is a leisurely warm-up. This is the start of the Mythen mountain trail. Therefore the place is ideal for a last rest (fireplace, restaurant Holzegg). The ascent to the Big Mythen is relatively steep and should be tackled with good footwear. Caution is advised in wet weather. The slippery stones can be very dangerous. The ascent opens up a wonderful panoramic view. Once you reach the summit, all your efforts are forgotten. A breathtaking panoramic view of the mountain peaks of the Alps, the valley basin of Schwyz, the lakes of Central Switzerland and the vastness of the Mittelland will leave you amazed. Between April and November, the summit restaurant is open daily in good weather (when the Swiss flag is raised).

Die Wanderung startet auf der Rotenflue. Bis zur Holzegg verläuft der Weg leicht abwärts. Von der Holzegg klettert er in zahlreichen Windungen dem Gipfel entgegen.

Zurück auf dem gleichen Weg.

Wer die Wanderung etwas abkürzen möchte, der kann als Alternative von Brunni-Alpthal direkt mit der Luftseilbahn zur Holzegg fahren.

Der Mythenweg ist ausgesetzt. Der Weg ist aber gut ausgebaut und an den heiklen Stellen gut gesichert.

Wanderschuhe mit gutem Profil oder Treckingschuhe, Regenjacke, Getränk, Verpflegung, eventuell Stöcke. Gute körperliche Verfassung.

A unique experience is the sunrise on the Grossen Mythen.

Mit dem PW auf der A4 bis Ausfahrt Seewen-Schwyz, bis Rickenbach. 

Parkplätze und Parkhäuser in der Nähe der Talstation (alle gebührenpflichtig).

Mit den SBB bis Bahnhof Schwyz-Seewen. Auto AG Schwyz ab Bahnhof Schwyz-Seewen mit Linie 3 bis Rickenbach, Rotenfluebahn.
