The new Baden Wine Cycle Path connects the Baden wine regions of Markgräflerland, Kaiserstuhl, Tuniberg, Breisgau, Ortenau, Kraichgau & Badische Bergstraße over around 460 kilometres.

The new Baden Wine Cycle Path runs around 460 kilometres from Grenzach-Wyhlen on the Swiss border through the five Black Forest wine regions of Markgräflerland, Kaiserstuhl, Tuniberg, Breisgau and Ortenau and on through the Kraichgau to Laudenbach on the Badische Bergstraße. Since April 2020, this leisure route for cyclists has been signposted.

The route, divided into eight stages between 43 and 78 kilometres in length, is particularly scenic and offers incredibly worthwhile views both of and over the vineyards. It leads through picturesque wine villages, and along the way are more than 300 wineries and winegrowers' cooperatives that invite you to enjoy a break. The wine tourism highlights along the route include Germany's first corkscrew museum in Vogtsburg-Burkheim, the Badische Wine Cellar in Breisach, one of the largest of its kind in Europe, and various wine museums. The medieval old towns of Staufen, Endingen, Gengenbach and Weinheim are definitely worth a detour.

Current information: During its first stage, the Wine Cycle Path leads through Switzerland for a few kilometres, shortly after the start in Grenzach. Please remember to bring your ID document!

  • Etappe 2 Kaiserstuhl/ Tuniberg: Schallstadt - Riegel (50 km)
  • Etappe 2 (Variante) Freiburg/ Glottertal: Schallstadt - Riegel (43 km)
  • Etappe 3 Breisgau: Riegel - Gengenbach (52 km)
  • Etappe 4 Ortenau Süd: Gengenbach - Bühl (56 km)
  • Etappe 5 Ortenau Nord: Bühl - Ettlingen (52 km)
  • Etappe 6 Kraichgau Süd: Ettlingen - Oberderdingen (65 km)
  • Etappe 7 Kraichgau Nord: Oberderdingen - Wiesloch (64 km)
  • Etappe 8 Badische Bergstraße: Wiesloch - Laudenbach (47 km)

The implementation of the Wine Cycle Path has been delayed by the Coronavirus pandemic. Please note that there may still be gaps or errors in the signage in a few places. Therefore, please also use digital route planning when you are out and about.

During its first stage, the Wine Cycle Path leads through Switzerland for a few kilometres shortly after the start in Grenzach. Please have your ID document ready. Due to the current Coronavirus situation and the resulting border controls, we recommend starting the Wine Cycle Path in Weil am Rhein.

Be careful of work in the vineyards: The vineyards along the Wine Cycle Path are cultivated by the winegrowers all year round. This can create confusing danger spots, for example when tractors drive in or out of rows of vines. Please ride carefully on appropriate paths in order to reduce the risk potential.

The route totals more than 3,000 metres in altitude and mostly runs on paved paths, which is why it is particularly suitable for e-bikes.
