Moderately difficult stage, which begins fairly moderately, with several challenging climbs later on. A marvellous stream valley and magnificent hill views very close together.

Velbert to Essen-Kettwig

The path begins close to the large railway bridge in Velbert (die Eisenbahnbr ücke Velberts) , the so-called Saubrücke, then heads towards the Rinderbach.

This small river dominates the first half of this stage.

Impressive flood control reservoirs are evidence of the Rinderbach’s former strength.

We continue past the Abtskücher Teich through a wonderful valley section north of Heiligenhaus – a real paradise.

In the second half of the stage, we head northwards in the direction of the River Ruhr, which we finally reach at Isenbügel.

A vast panorama of the Ruhr and Kettwig introduces the final section of the stage, which ends shortly before Kettwig-Stausee S-Bahn at the Rindersberger Mill ( Rindersberger Mühle) .

A stage that features the great rivers of the region: the Ruhr and the Rinderbach.
