Döbbelin Park at Bismarck Castle

The path system of the Döbbelin Park allows for a fascinating walk under almost 300-year-old oak trees.

The mighty oaks in Döbbelin Park have been growing there undisturbed since Hans-Christoph von Bismarck decided in 1736 not only to build a castle, but also to have a manor park laid out. The current owners have restored the large grounds with the yellow tea pavilion, the pond and the baroque putti to a representative state. In addition to the existing tree population, the basic structure was restored with two newly planted linden avenues and extensive lawns. In a map of the Döbbelin fieldmark from 1845, the water feature at the eastern end of the property is also marked, and it is still preserved in its original form. The walk there leads past two statues under old beech and oak trees. Nearby is a memorial with gravestones of the von Bismarck family, the 19th generation to inhabit Döbbelin, and a statue of the Virgin Mary. Another historic pond is also located here.
