The Ölberggarten (Olive Garden) is an addition to the Holy Sepulchre to represent the conditions of the landscape in Jerusalem symbolically.

The Holy Sepulchre of Görlitz, built at the end of the 15th century, is considered the closest to the Jerusalem original of all European Holy Sepulchre complexes of the Middle Ages. It consists of the Double Chapel of the Holy Cross, the Ointment House and the Sepulchral Chapel. Written evidence and copperplate engravings show that from the mid-16th century onwards, the Jerusalem features were symbolically transferred to the landscape around the Görlitz Holy Sepulchre: The little watercourse of Lunitz became the "Kidron brook"; at the foot of the slope opposite the Holy Sepulchre there was the "Disciples' Meadow", and halfway up this bare hill, called the "Mount of Olives", stood the "Olive Tree", today a maple about 150 years old. The "Ölberggarten" was created between 1923 and 1928 according to a design by the then garden director Heinrich Diekmann as a multifunctional orchard.
