Hiking along the Eifel Traumpfad Monrealer Ritterschlag
Along the tracks of knights: the Löwenburg and Philippsburg castles tower majestically above the medieval half-timbered village of Monreal. Steep and meandering forest paths, adventurous ravines and spectacular distant views make the trail a unique experience.

From the train station in Monreal, an access path leads to the starting point of the dream trail "Monreal Knighthood" at the Old Rectory. The trail continues through the historic town center over the Lower Castle Bridge. Following the banks of the Elz River, the trail leads through a quiet residential area out into nature. The gently ascending path conquers the hillside above the Elz and opens up a breathtaking view of the castles.

The trail continues on soft paths through the idyllic Elz valley, uphill through a deeply cut hollow way and on through open meadowland with a grandiose panorama. After a hairpin bend and a short ascent to the Juckelsberg, a bench invites you to take a break.

The path crosses the L 98 and leads over a short field passage into the forest before the view of the Hochbermel and the dreamy Thürelztal opens up. The following serpentine descent leads over a barren steep slope overgrown with stunted oaks down into an open broom landscape. In the valley, the trail crosses a railroad line (underpass) and a stream, passes the connecting path to the "Traumpfad Hochbermeler" and climbs over narrow paths onto a rocky ridge. The trail briefly follows the ridge between Elz and Thürelz, then begins the descent to Augstmühle.

After the confluence of the two streams, the Elz is crossed and the sports field of Monreal is reached. Here begins the 100 meter steep ascent to the Monreal castles. After a stretch of meadow, you reach a rocky spur in the forest with a spectacular view of Monreal and the castles. A few meters later, the access road to Philippsburg Castle branches off. A last ascent leads into the walls of the Löwenburg. On a narrow path it goes down to Monreal.
