You will see farewell pictures and room monuments worth preserving from the mid-19th century to the mid-20th century in the form of exhibits by the collector Horst Jordan, as well as loans and historical pieces from the holdings of the municipal cemetery.
The exhibition "Last but not least" in the Old cemetery hall at the Görlitz Municipal Cemetery shows pictures that recall happy days, such as weddings and confirmations, but also sad events: bereavements. Impressive are the testimonies from the 1st World War, when all you had to do was insert the name and date of the deceased in prefabricated sheets. The exhibits show various production techniques that are largely unknown today and are tokens of love.Among the items on loan from the holdings of the municipal cemetery are a hearse from Reichenbach that was still in use until 2000, impressive pearl wreaths provided by Susan Donath from Dresden and photographs by the photographer Martin E. Kautter from Görlitz. There are farewell pictures that could not be more impressive; photos of a tulip, photographed daily in its blossoming and fading. What beauty down to the last image! They are wonderfully placed in the Old cementery hall.
