Jakobstraße 5 - Golden Gate, Görlitz

The building with the "Golden Gate" in Jakobstraße has a chequered history. 

It was designed, built and inhabited by the master builder Franz Grunert, whose filigree initials can still be seen in the Golden Gate. Later, the house was occupied by the Jewish merchant family Ephraim. From here, Martin Ephraim directed his business and was committed to his father city of Görlitz.
